Last week I had the opportunity to visit MEL, which is the signature dining room located within the newly refurbished hotel at Formentor. For many of us living locally, we have been waiting some time to see the results of the extensive renovations, and I must say the results are quite striking.

Upon arrival, the first thing one notices is the interior design. It is exceptionally elegant and has been finished to a very high standard. The furniture and the layout create a very sophisticated atmosphere that makes the guest feel like a member of the global elite. In fact, sitting there amongst such a polished clientele, I found myself feeling rather like a Kardashian or a Hollywood star. It is the sort of place where you feel someone special just by being seated at the table.

The Setting

The location is, as one would expect for Formentor, world-class. The views across the water are very beautiful and provide a wonderful backdrop for a midday meal. The decor is very tasteful and complements the natural beauty of the bay outside the windows. The other diners were all very well-dressed, which added to the general sense of being in a very exclusive environment.

The Menu

Regarding the menu, the food was presented very nicely. It was a light meal and seemed to be prepared with fresh ingredients. The quality was certainly adequate for a venue of this standing.

For those looking for a sense of glamour and a chance to experience a very high-end setting, MEL is certainly worth a visit. It offers a level of prestige that is quite unique in our local area.
